So it once again has been forever since my last blog. I have been able to keep myself fairly busy. I also had a great trip to Fredonia, AZ. For those of you who don't know where Fredonia is (which is everyone who doesn't live in Fredonia) it is on the northern border of the great state of Arizona. In fact, we stayed in Kanab, Utah. We had lunch in Kanab as well since there are no places to eat in Fredonia. It was cold but quite lovely. I knew I was back in Utah when eating lunch they asked if I wanted "fry sauce". Utah is the only place I know that offers fry sauce and they just assume everyone knows what it is. But as not to offend any Utah folks, that is all I will say about the State of Utah. You would think that having lived in Utah, and being a Utah State Alumni, I would enjoy the state more, but I don't. It's probably the one state I have lived in that I would not want to live in again, and yes that includes New York.
The good thing about being out of town is that I didn't have much time for television. Luckily, someone invented this DVR thing so I can record all the shows. And since the winter olympics are on for the next few weeks, there is not much to watch. No, I don't watch the winter olympics. Actually, I have officially banned myself from watching. You know they say the olympics are suppose to bring the world together and makes all feel good. I don't see it. For me it has the opposite effect. It makes me not like other countries more. I don't want to see them win. I did watch about a half hour of ice skate dancing with the kids. We enjoyed watching people from the other countries mess up and fall down. That is when I realized I probably should not encourage my kids to hope communist people do poorly in the olympics. It's not that my ban will make me miss it. Most of the good stuff I can watch on the winter X games every year. I don't need to wait four years to see someone push a block on ice.
Now the summer olympics are cool and I would watch that. I don't know why, maybe because the sports are better. You know, I lived just outside Salt Lake when the winter games were there and I thought about going to an event but since the only event worthwhile is hockey and the costs of tickets were out of my price range, I didn't. In fact, I worked just blocks from the olympic village and didn't so much as watch an event on TV. I did see the torch on its way, not by choice, they shut the whole road down while I was trying to get to work.
I realize there are many people who love the olympics and that is cool. I am just not one of them. So I won't complain too much that it is messing up my TV schedule, I will just accept it as is.
Now the Superbowl was a few weeks ago and that was a lot of fun. I stayed at home this year and watched with Jared. The commercials were a let down, especially as the game went on. Half-time was a joke. I mean it's not that I don't like "The Who" but seriously, does anyone know what year it is. I figure that Superbowl 80 will have Rihanna and Jay-Z perform. (Yes I did 80 not XXL whatever, I am not Roman, I don't use Roman numerals). It just seems that the superbowl planning people are behind the times.
The game was great, I was happy the Colts lost. Not that I have anything against the Colts, just the Manning family. That whole family rubs me the wrong way. I don't mind Payton so much, I mean he hasn't been in too much trouble since his little college incident. I mean sticking your bear backside in a ladies face isn't the worst thing a player has done. I just don't like Eli and Archie whinning about what team is going to pay Eli millions. Just be happy you get to play and play. I don't maybe I would do the same, San Diego or New York, I would do either. But if it were New York or Kansas City, I would probably whine a bit.
I recently diagnosed myself on WebMD as having a sleep disorder. Now I am looking into getting a handicap sticker for my car. This is a real disease that impacts my daily life. I don't sleep well and so I get tired during the day. I shouldn't have to drive all around the parking lot looking for a space when there are plenty of spaces available up close. I may fall asleep driving in the parking lot and hurt someone.
Speaking of WebMD, if the government really wants to reform healthcare, just make sure everyone has access to the internet. You can diagnose everything there and there is not need to go to the doctor. I think sometimes the doctors just go and look up stuff on WebMD and come back in the room and tell you what's what. Then they charge you a copay and your insurance $1,000.
